Ease. Presence. Possibility.

Welcome. My name is Chris Massonneau, and I offer hands-on, movement-based therapy rooted in the Trager® Approach. Whether you’re seeking greater ease, improved function, or support for chronic pain and tension, this work helps restore fluidity to both body and mind.

Based in Northern Virginia, I work with individuals whose challenges are connected to the lived experience of being in a body. The Trager Approach is a form of Somatic Movement Education and Therapy.

Day-to-day life can be difficult for many reasons—structural or functional patterns in the body, a history of trauma, mental health concerns, or neurological conditions. Through the Trager Approach, clients are supported in discovering ease and relaxation by way of verbally guided movement explorations and hands-on work, commonly referred to as “tablework.”

About Chris

I am a Certified Trager® Practitioner, first certified in 1993 as an adjunct to my Physical Therapy practice, and re-certified in 2023 following a resurgence of interest in the Trager Approach as a stand-alone intervention. While my PT background informs my perspective, what I offer here is the Trager Approach.*

Through gentle, hands-on touch and guided movement, I support people in reconnecting with their bodies. This work does not rely on force or “fixing,” but on listening, attunement, and trust in the body’s innate intelligence. Trager invites healing that unfolds through sensation, honors pacing, and helps the nervous system rediscover ease, movement, and possibility.

Whether you are living with persistent pain, a movement disorder, trauma recovery, mental health challenges, or simply feeling distant from your body, we begin where you are—and follow what emerges, gently, together.

*The practice of Physical Therapy is defined as the evaluation and treatment of individuals with disorders resulting from trauma, disease, or birth defect. Individuals in need of Physical Therapy will do well to find a suitable provider outside of this practice.

Trager in Practice

The Trager Approach is a gentle, somatic therapy that uses rhythmic, non-invasive movement and touch to support the release of tension and habitual holding patterns.

It’s not about pushing or fixing—it’s about inviting.

Sessions often feel meditative, deeply relaxing, and surprisingly effective. Over time, Trager can help rewire patterns in the nervous system that contribute to pain, restriction, or disconnection.

You stay clothed (or comfortably draped) on a padded table while I use soft, wave-like movements to invite openness and freedom in your joints, muscles, and fascia.
